Smart cities

With the goal of creating economically, socially and environmentally sustainable cities, the concept of Smart Cities began.  Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are used in these cities with the purpose of providing infrastructures that guarantee:

  • Sustainable development.
  • Increase in the quality of life of citizens.
  • Greater efficiency of available resources.
  • Active citizen participation.

It is expected that 85% of the world’s population will live in cities by the year 2050. This fact means that in the coming decades urban centers will have to face an increasing number of problems related to this reality, such as energy supply, emissions of CO2, automobile traffic, among others. That is why at CEPM we work every day to build smart networks, through the efficient measurement of the energy expenditure data of each user by using smart meters. The readings are made remotely and in real time. Also, the company is working to implement a public and private network of charging stations in the countries in which it operates.

CEPM is the only electricity distribution company where 100% of its customers are managed through remote metering.

At CEPM we have been pioneers in introducing this technology in the Dominican Republic. It is a way to analyze, diagnose, measure and distribute the energy consumption of homes and businesses in a more effective and efficient manner, while at the same time optimizing our commercial operations and product. Its portfolio of products is based on the needs and profiles of our customers.

How is a smart meter different from a traditional one?
It provides updated and detailed information on the energy consumption of your home or business, identifying the time and place where the greatest consumption is registered. In addition, it records and notifies irregularities that normally require the support of a technician to detect them.
