La Altagracia, May 25, 2023 – CEPM celebrated this Thursday, at the Juan Pablo Duarte Municipal Library in Bávaro Verón, the official presentation of the children’s book “Ámbar: Energía al Natural” as part of its commitment to promote values of environmental sustainability in the children of its concession area. This project is part of the company’s “Green Schools Network” program, whose main objective is to strengthen environmental awareness in schools in the area.
Through activities such as ecological restoration, talks on energy saving, reading clubs and weekly educational routes, CEPM has impacted 318 students from five schools: El Cortecito, Los Manantiales, Escuela Básica Verón II, El Calasanz and Pedro Livio Cedeño. The program has been supported by science teachers and members of school PTAs, achieving 94% progress to date. Starting in September, the book “Ámbar: Energía al Natural” will be used in five educational centers as part of a reading motivation campaign.
“CEPM is proud of its commitment to environmental education and the promotion of sustainable practices in schools. We strongly believe in the importance of preserving our natural environment for future generations, and we work with passion and determination to create a positive impact, while building together with these educational institutions and the community at large a greener and more sustainable future for everyone.“said Oscar San Martín, general manager of CEPM.

As part of this program, CEPM has created five environmental ambassador committees, comprised of a total of 50 students between the ages of 12 and 14. These ambassadors are committed to promoting energy efficiency, responsible waste management and environmental protection in their schools and communities.

In addition, four educational routes have been carried out in CEPM’s facilities in Bávaro, five environmental talks and three ecological restorations in collaboration with ECORED and the National Botanical Garden, during which species in critical danger of extinction have been planted, such as the Bayahíbe Rose and the Cotoperí, a species sponsored by CEPM through the Red List Rescue Mission program.
“Green Schools Network is a selection of schools in our concession area that participate in a program focused on environmental protection. This program is based on raising awareness through the creation of environmental ambassadors, who are school students themselves, committed to promoting responsible waste management, energy efficiency and environmental protection, especially in reforestation activities or the protection of endemic flora.“said Helena Saenz, senior manager of Communications and Shared Value at CEPM.
The activities planned for these schools will be adapted according to the age of the students. For the youngest children, storytellers will be organized using this book, with the objective of teaching them in a didactic and fun way the fundamental concepts of environmental protection. As students move up the ladder, other activities will be introduced according to their age and developmental level.
CEPM, in addition to being an electricity company dedicated to providing quality and reliable services in the eastern part of the country, has demonstrated with these initiatives a commitment to sustainable development, promoting environmental education and the protection of the natural environment in its communities.
