CEPM delivers remodeling of Barrio Nuevo Community School

The company carried out a community and social impact assessment in the sector, determining that the greatest criticality was in the educational center, which does not receive aid funds from any institution.

BÁVARO, La Altagracia.- With the presence of the main community leaders of Barrio Nuevo, students and teachers, the Consorcio Energético Punta Cana – Macao (CEPM) made formal delivery of the Community School of Barrio Nuevo, readjusted between April 7 and 9 by CEPM employees.

The event was led by school director Ariana Rondón and CEPM General Manager Jesús Bolinaga who said: “Although CEPM has been supporting this school for years with the donation of energy, we felt it was time to take our contribution to another level, supporting these teachers, who give up what they do not have for these children, with the basic themes.”

The school principal, addressing those present said: “What the company and its volunteers have done here will not only be seen today, but will be seen for many years in the impact on these children. These students will always carry with them this act of love and solidarity that CEPM has had with them. ”

CEPM’s Social Responsibility Superintendent, Meraris Vargas, explained that the school has been operating for more than 13 years providing education to Barrio Nuevo children at basic levels. She pointed out that the company carried out a community and social impact assessment in the sector, determining that the greatest criticality was in the educational center, which does not receive aid funds from any institution.

She added that the school in Barrio Nuevo shows a 30% drop out, which is why CEPM is taking steps to ensure education. He explained that the work of readjustment was carried out with the support of the Corporate Volunteering of CEPM, supported by 15 collaborators who during three continuous days made possible the successful conclusion of the works.

With this contribution, CEPM expects to increase the attendance of students, thus supporting the development of education in the area.
