- “La Menina Caribeña” will be on display until May 30 in Santo Domingo’s La Lira Park, for the enjoyment of all Dominicans and visitors to the capital city.
Santo Domingo, April 11, 2023. After its successful exhibition at the Meninas Madrid Gallery 2022, “La Menina Caribeña” has arrived in the Dominican Republic thanks to the collaboration of CEPM and Evergo, companies of the InterEnergy group, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Spain and the Mayor’s Office of the National District, with the aim of promoting tourism and highlighting Dominican cultural diversity to the world.
The exhibition was inaugurated today at La Lira Park in Santo Domingo and will remain open to the public until May 30. This project began in 2021, when a Dominican menina was exhibited for the first time in the streets of Madrid with “Dominican Faces”, as a way to promote tourism at all levels, both inside and outside the country.
“I feel great pride in affirming that our companies, CEPM and Evergo, have been an integral part of this project since its inception. A commitment we have made with the objective of generating value and contributing to the development of Dominican tourism at all levels, both inside and outside our country, and highlighting the valuable diversity, capacity for innovation and elements that make us a world reference,” said Roberto Herrera, country manager of InterEnergy.
The collaboration between CEPM and Evergo, the Mayor’s Office of the National District and the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Spain has made it possible to bring “La Menina Caribeña” to its home, so that all Dominicans and visitors can enjoy this unique piece of art.
The mayor of the National District, Carolina Mejía, highlighted the value of the initiative: “It is an immense joy to celebrate this morning. Thank you CEPM for once again being present. This Menina Caribeña represents what we really are, a good people, of hardworking people, of happy people, who constantly strive to be better, and that is what we want to embrace and promote”.

“La Menina Caribeña” was designed by the Dominican artist and illustrator Taína Almodóvar, who in her work captured representative elements of our country brand: tourism, represented in the national flora and fauna, the rose of Bayahibe, our seas and mountains; culture and citizenship, represented through symbols of the national music and figures of the Dominican painter Candido Bidó; the colors, which besides incorporating blue, white and red, there are shades of yellow and orange to symbolize the warmth of our climate and the joy of our people; and green, representing the environment and hope.
This is the first Dominican menina painted entirely by hand, which makes it a unique and original work of art. This is the second year that, in a pioneering way, the companies CEPM and Evergo, leaders in the country in the field of energy and electric mobility, hand in hand with the Embassy of the Dominican Republic to the Kingdom of Spain, put the high identity and the valuable cultural diversity of our country in this event of world reference, with innovative proposals from Dominican designers.
La Menina Caribeña will be on display at Parque La Lira until May 30, and it is expected that its presence will contribute to highlight the cultural and natural wealth of the Dominican Republic, as well as to promote tourism and the Dominican identity both inside and outside our country.
