- Through the creation of environmental ambassadors among students, CEPM fosters a lasting commitment to sustainability for generations to come.
Bávaro, La Altagracia– In its commitment to sustainable development, CEPM successfully completed the first stage of its ‘Green Schools Network’ program, an initiative aimed at promoting environmental awareness in schools in its concession area.
During this initial stage, CEPM has benefited a total of 320 students from various schools in Bávaro-Punta Cana through talks on Waste Management, in collaboration with the Botellas de Amor Foundation, in five key educational centers: Los Manantiales, El Cortecito, El Calasanz, Pedro Livio Cedeño and Verón II. These sessions, taught by experts in the field, have not only enriched students’ knowledge of the importance of responsible waste management, but have also inspired a lasting commitment to environmental protection.
“We are especially proud of this program that has managed to transcend the conventional boundaries of environmental education, fostering an ongoing commitment to sustainability in future generations,” said Helena Saenz, Senior Manager of Communications and Shared Value at CEPM.
A vital part of the ‘Green Schools Network’ program is the creation of environmental ambassador committees, composed of 50 students between the ages of 12 and 14, young leaders who are committed to promoting energy efficiency, responsible waste management and environmental protection in their schools and communities. “The enthusiasm and dedication of these students are an inspiring testament to the potential of youth to bring about positive change in our area,” she added.
CEPM Corporate Volunteering also becomes an integral part of the program, dedicating time and effort in the planning and execution of activities. This not only strengthens ties with the community, but also inspires a sense of purpose and shared responsibility for sustainability and environmental well-being.
This year, the ‘Green Schools Network’ program will offer new opportunities to enrich environmental awareness in local schools. With activities that include ecological restoration, energy saving talks, book clubs and educational tours, CEPM inspires future generations to become active stewards of our planet.
