Thermal Energy

The Thermal Energy division was introduced as a way of collaborating with our clients in supplying the following needs, based on three main characteristics:

  • Represents important Savings in the operational costs of our clients.

  • Avoids investment by our clients in these areas.

  • Provide our clients with a world-class team, with the experience and training to guarantee the service.

Benefits

We take care of the services that have to do with the Generation and Supply of Thermal Energies, in addition to the operations and maintenance of the systems. Also, issues involving future investments, reinvestments or possible replacement of equipment, so that our clients can dedicate their efforts to the core of their businesses and become strategic allies, and support for their operations. Chilled Water Systems

Whether for use in industrial applications, or for air conditioning, Chilled Water Systems are a very important part of our customers’ operations.

These systems are usually characterized by a high investment, the need for high-level technical specialization and, most importantly, they depend on the manufacturers’ ability to respond to failures.

CEPM Thermal Systems, with more than 5,000 tons of cold systems installed and in operation, are supported by highly trained and qualified personnel to meet all needed requirements. In addition, the CEPM Thermal Systems is in direct contact with the manufacturers of some of the most prestigious brands of ice water generators that are available in the market today, such as Carrier, York and Trane. This guarantees its response to eventualities, in addition to the guarantee of efficiency and response that the CEPM brand represents. All these factors contribute to the peace of mind of all our clients.

Sanitary Hot Water (SHW)

Both for industrial clients, as well as for Hotels and Resorts, the supply of Hot Water, whether for various processes, kitchens, or rooms, is essential.

The most important aspect is to have a stable and continuous supply, at an adequate cost. We rely on recognized brands and work together with our clients to achieve the maximum efficiency of these systems, thus reducing the cost of the supply of hot water.

We guarantee the continuity and stability of supply, with which we support Maintenance Managers to achieve their goals, and we provide peace of mind to our clients by having a supply backed by the proven efficiency and quality of service of CEPM.

Thermal Oil / Steam

Generally used in laundry-room facilities, or some industrial service, the generation of steam and thermal oil is associated with an intensive procedure, with high costs involving chemical treatment or the replacement of oil, as well as a high level of technical specialization.

At CEPM Thermal Systems we have a team that has more than 10 years of experience working with Steam and Thermal Oil systems, both in the operation as well as in the design and maintenance of the systems. This allows us to provide our clients with the highest possible service.

District Energy

As part of the expansion of our CEPM Thermal Division, we developed the first District Energy system in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean to provide ice water – through absorption machines – and Sanitary Hot Water (SHW) to hotels situated in the vicinity of our plant.

District Energy is a thermal energy transmission and distribution system. In the case of CEPM, we transmit and distribute hot water at high temperatures, produced in our thermal power plant, for use by the hotels in order to produce ice water and Sanitary Hot Water.

At District Energy CEPM, waste heat comes from exhaust gases and the cool water (cylinders, oil cooler, combustion air cooler) from Wartsila 18V32 Vasa engines, with a 6 MW capacity each, which run on HFO heavy fuel.

Benefits:
  • Easy operation and maintenance.
  • Reliability.
  • Excellent cost-benefit ratio.
  • Production of clean energy using residual heat from our plant, thus reducing the emission of greenhouse gases.
  • The cost of ice water and domestic hot water would be less than producing these services locally.
How does it work?
  • The District Energy CEPM pipeline route, between the CEPM generation plant and the hotels, is 14.5 kilometers. This covers a radius of four kilometers between the plant and CEPM. In the hotel´s industrial zone, absorption chillers are installed to produce ice water and heat exchangers to produce domestic hot water.
  • At the CEPM generation plant, the residual heat from the electricity generation process is used to produce High-Temperature Hot Water (HTHW) at 248°F (120°C). The HTHW supplies the necessary thermal energy to operate the absorption machine to produce the chilled water needed for air conditioners and to produce domestic hot water through heat exchangers.
