The signing of this agreement will allow 460 hotel rooms to operate with clean energy.
BÁVARO, La Altagracia.- The Consorcio Energético Punta Cana – Macao (CEPM) signed a contract to supply, for the first time, solar source energy (photovoltaic) to a hotel complex, which is operated by Karisma Hotels & Resorts with 460 rooms in the Uvero Alto area.
The initiative, which contributes to the development of sustainable tourism, will allow Nickelodeon Punta Cana and Sensatori Resort Punta Cana hotels to operate with clean energy, from photovoltaic energy to be supplied by CEPM.
The agreement was signed by the Executive Director of CEPM, Roberto Herrera, and Jorge Féliz, Director of Karisma Hotels, becomes the first of its kind and feature that will supply a multi-hotel complex of photovoltaic energy.
“We assumed the signing of this agreement as a relevant opportunity to continue contributing to the development of tourism from a sustainable and environmentally friendly vision”, highlighted Herrera.
He added that CEPM plans to continue investing in renewable energy, to encourage the use of natural resources that contribute to mitigate climate change in a responsible manner. This is a commitment assumed by both companies with the sustainability and protection of the planet.
The proportion of energy that CEPM will supply to the hotel facilities will have a power of 1.5 MW, thus avoiding the use of conventional fuels for the operations of that tourist infrastructure.
“With the construction of this solar greenhouse we continue taking firm steps to the development of sustainable tourism and expand the possibility of well-being of the current population by joining the global commitment to ensure the quality of our natural resources and their continuity for future generations,” said Jorge Happy.
This agreement, CEPM expands its generation matrix, which also contains wind, natural gas, biomass, heavy fuel oil (HFO) and light fuel oil (LFO).
