MADRID- The Consorcio Energético Punta Cana- Macao (CEPM) participates in the 35th International Tourism fair, It is the first occasion in which a Dominican electricity distribution company takes presence in the most important fair of the global tourism industry.
FITUR, which is held in Madrid from January 28 to February 1, 2015, with the participation of 9,107 companies from 165 countries and regions, with different branches of tourism: Tour operators, travel agencies, and transportation companies.
According to the press release of FITUR, the fair will maximize its spaces for encounters between companies, personalized meetings and have an address book programmed to facilitate the meetings and the possibilities of exchange and trade.
CEPM is part of the ministry of Tourism in the Dominican Republic. In it Roberto Herrera, (CEO of the company) and Oscar San Martín (director of commercial and distribution) participate.
The company has played a leading role in the development of Dominican tourism as it provides electricity to 60% of the national hotel offer.
CEPM is a pioneer in wind energy in the Dominican Republic. It has created a wind farm named, Quilvio Cabrera, and was inaugurated next to the wind farm “Los Cocos.” CEPM has the first District Energy System of the Caribbean, which uses the energy that is lost from the plant operations, to generate hot water, steam and chilled water used by hotels; thus saving 61,000 barrels of fuel a year and prevent the emission of 28,000 tons of CO2.
The company finished 2014 with rates of historical energy supply: the average CEPM customer had less than a one interruption per month, each less than 17 minutes.
In addition, the energy company recently received the award of Merit from the Association of Hotels and Tourism Projects of the Eastern zone for contributions for the development of the country’s most important tourist area.
