CEPM and ECORED launch the third edition of the Environmental Journalism Award



The Prize, with an endowment of RD $ 350,000 for three winners, aims to stimulate the generation of research and journalistic content that calls the attention of society, highlighting the importance of caring for the environment and promoting actions in favor of the protection and sustainability of the planet.

Santo Domingo Dominican Republic. – The Consorcio Energético Punta Cana – Macao (CEPM), the Compañía de Electricidad de San Pedro de Macorís (CESPM), companies of the InterEnergy Holdings Group, together with the National Business Support Network for Environmental Protection (ECORED), announced the opening of the third edition of the “Environmental Journalism Award Edition 2017-2018.

The objective of the Prize is to stimulate the generation of research and journalistic content that calls the attention of society, highlighting the importance of caring for the environment and promoting actions in favor of the protection and sustainability of the planet.

Vielka Guzman, Director of Communications & Shared Value of the companies of the InterEnergy Group, offered the general details of the Award, emphasizing that according to the bases the most innovative works that analyze trends and contribute unpublished perspectives from the media will be awarded.

The contest will be open until August 31, 2018 and may participate journalistic works published between September 1, 2017 and August 31, 2018, in Dominican media of local, national or regional in the Dominican Republic, either in printed or digital formats.

The winner of the first place will receive RD $ 200 thousand plus recognition certificate. The winners with the second and third place will receive cash prizes of RD $ 100 thousand and RD $ 50 thousand, respectively.

On behalf of Ecored, Maria Alicia Urbaneja, Executive Director, presented the jury for this third edition, consisting of Elvira Lora, journalist and director of the career of Social Communication of the PUCMM; Omar Ramírez, adviser to the Executive Power for the environment and Sixto Incháustegui, member of the Board of Directors of Grupo Jaragua.

Rafael Izquierdo, President of Ecored, stressed that the third edition of the Environmental Journalism Award seeks to grant recognition to those journalistic publications that contribute to the construction of a more sustainable, harmonious and inclusive society and that promote public debate, thus helping to raise awareness to the public opinion on these initiatives.
